Williams SNP7-8 1" Dr Impact Adaptor 1F X 1-1/2M

The Williams SNP7-8 is a 1 inch drive impact adaptor, 1 inch female to 1-1/2 inch male.

This adaptor steps a 1 inch drive tool up to 1-1/2 inch drive sockets, and at this scale the step-up warning stops being theoretical.

The chain is only as strong as its smallest square, and the smallest square here is the 1 inch end. It is engineered for 1 inch drive torque. Putting 1-1/2 inch sockets on it does not raise that rating — it just lets a 1 inch tool engage fasteners that belong to a much larger tool. The operator sees a huge socket on a huge nut and reaches for a huge amount of force, and the 1 inch square is what fails.

A 1 inch square failing under load, on a fastener that needs 1-1/2 inch drive, releases a large amount of stored energy.

So the adaptor is for reaching a large socket with a tool that is rated for the job. It is not a way to make a smaller tool into a bigger one.

Impact rated means chrome-moly, tough rather than hard. Chrome adaptors on impact tools shatter, and Williams' warranty says so plainly.

At this scale, verify the tool's torque rating against the fastener's requirement before assuming an adaptor bridges the gap. It does not.
