The Williams SNP50666 is a 3/8 inch drive socket set, 47 pieces.

Note a contradiction in the source: the item is named an SAE socket set and the type field says Metric. Those are mutually exclusive. One of them is wrong, and this is not a cosmetic error — a customer ordering an SAE set and receiving metric has a box of sockets that will not fit anything they own.

The reason it matters more than it might is that SAE and metric sockets are close enough to be dangerous. A 1/2 inch socket fits a 13 mm nut loosely — 13 mm is 0.512 inches, so there is about a hundredth of an inch of slop. It turns the fastener, and it rounds it. The same is true of 3/8 on 10 mm and 9/16 on 14 mm. Somebody with the wrong set will make it work and destroy fasteners doing it.

At 3/8 inch drive and 47 pieces, this is the general-purpose set: the drive size that handles most automotive and equipment fasteners without being unwieldy.

The 3/8 inch square is a torque rating expressed as geometry. It is engineered for the fasteners it fits.
