The Williams SNP4-155-10-2-0 is a Bahco farmer's file, 10 inch, second cut, 18 and 36 TPI.

The two TPI figures are the specification and they are not a typo: a farmer's file carries a different cut on each face. Eighteen teeth per inch on one side, thirty-six on the other. One file, two grades.

That is a genuinely sensible piece of design and it is aimed squarely at its user. A farmer sharpening a mower blade, a hoe, a spade, or an axe is standing in a field, not at a bench. The job needs a coarse cut to take out the damage and a finer one to bring the edge back, and carrying two files to a hedge is how one of them gets left in the hedge. Putting both on one file solves it.

The same logic serves anyone working away from a shop — groundskeepers, contractors, and site crews.

The trade is that neither face is as coarse or as fine as a dedicated file. It is a compromise made deliberately.

Note that Bahco states TPI rather than only naming the grade, which is absolute where named grades are relative to file size.
