Williams SNP35832 Socket Bit 3/4 Inch Industrial Black One Piece Impact 32 mm

The Williams SNP35832 is a socket bit, 3/4 inch drive, 32 mm hex bit, 3-1/2 inch overall length, industrial black, one piece impact, drive end diameter 1-3/4 inch.

One piece is the specification and it is the whole reason this is an impact tool.

A conventional hex bit socket is two parts: a bit pressed or pinned into a socket body. That joint is fine for hand use and it is a failure point under impact. An impact wrench delivers thousands of hammer blows a minute, and every one of them is a shock loading the joint between bit and body. Eventually the bit spins in the socket, or comes out of it, or the pin shears.

A one piece impact socket bit is forged from a single piece of chrome-moly. There is no joint to fail.

The black industrial finish is the identification: black is impact-rated chrome-moly, heat treated for toughness. Chrome is a hand tool, hardened for wear and correspondingly brittle — Williams states that using chrome sockets on power drive equipment is a misuse that can cause serious injury. Chrome shatters.

At 3/4 inch drive with a 32 mm hex, this is heavy equipment territory: structural fasteners, machinery, mining, and construction plant.

The 3-1/2 inch overall is short, which is correct for impact — every inch of length is a torsional spring.
