Williams SNP30925 Socket Set 1/4 Inch High-Polished Chrome Shallow 12 12 Point

The Williams SNP30925 is a socket set, 1/4 inch drive, shallow, 12 point, high-polished chrome, 12 pieces, meeting ANSI B107.110.

The chrome finish is the specification and it is an identification system rather than a decoration — which is worth being blunt about, because getting it wrong injures people.

Chrome sockets are hand sockets. They are made from a steel hardened for wear resistance, and hardness means brittleness. Put a chrome socket on an impact wrench and it does not deform or wear — it shatters, and the fragments leave at speed. Williams' own warranty documentation states plainly that using chrome-finish hand sockets on power drive equipment is a misuse of the tool that can result in serious injury.

Impact sockets are the black ones. They are chrome-molybdenum, heat treated for toughness rather than hardness, with thicker walls. They deform before they break.

So the finish tells you which is which, across every brand. Shiny is hand. Black is impact. There is no such thing as a chrome socket that is fine on an impact gun just this once.

ANSI B107.110 is the American standard for sockets and drive tools — dimensional and performance requirements, verified rather than claimed.

The 12-point shape engages every thirty degrees, which is access. Six-point contacts the flats more broadly, which is grip.

At 1/4 inch drive this is a small fastener set.
