Product Highlights
Description
The Williams SNP13424A is an adjustable wrench, 24 inch, chrome.
At 24 inches this is a two-handed tool and it belongs to a different category of work — heavy plumbing, structural fittings, large machinery, and equipment maintenance.
Two things follow from the size and both matter.
The first is torque. A 24 inch handle multiplies hand force enormously, which is why the tool exists and why it is dangerous. There is no feedback at this leverage — a fastener that is about to shear feels the same as one that is about to move, and the arm cannot tell. Large fasteners are frequently the ones holding something heavy, and a sheared bolt in a structural connection is a serious matter.
The second is the tool's own weak point. The movable jaw rides on a worm screw and that screw is the weakest part by a wide margin. Pull toward the movable jaw so the fixed jaw takes the load. Get it backwards at this leverage and the jaw springs open, the wrench comes off, and the operator's weight goes wherever it was headed.
Set the jaw tight against the flats before pulling.
At 24 inches consider whether a proper wrench or a socket exists. It usually does.
