The Williams SNP13418A is an adjustable wrench, 18 inch, chrome.

An 18 inch adjustable wrench applies a great deal of torque and that changes how it should be thought about.

Leverage at this length is substantial — enough to shear a bolt, strip a thread, or crack a casting without the operator's arm feeling like it worked hard. That is the point of the tool and it is also the hazard. A long wrench removes the feedback that stops people breaking things: on a short wrench the hand knows when a fastener is tight, and on an 18 inch one it does not.

The structural rule is not negotiable at this size. Pull toward the movable jaw, so the force goes into the fixed jaw cast into the head rather than through the worm screw that carries the movable one. Getting that backwards on an 18 inch handle opens the jaw under load and rounds the fastener instantly.

Set the jaw tight against the flats first. Play is what lets a wrench cam off a corner, and at this leverage it does it once and the fastener is finished.

And never extend it. A pipe over an 18 inch wrench is well beyond what the tool or the fastener was designed for.
