Description
The Williams SNP1234BSC is a combination wrench, 1-1/16 inch opening, rounded open end, 12-point box end, 14-3/4 inch overall length, industrial black finish, standard head.
Industrial black is the fourth finish in this range — alongside high-polish chrome, satin chrome, and hi-vis red — and each one exists for a different customer.
Black is the non-reflective one. Chrome is a mirror, and there are settings where a mirror is a problem: photography and film work, optical and laser environments, and anywhere a reflection off a tool interferes with what somebody is looking at. Black finishes also hide the marks that a working tool accumulates, which matters aesthetically on tools that are seen.
The functional caveat: black finishes are generally less corrosion resistant than chrome. That is a real trade, and a black wrench in a damp box needs more attention than a chromed one.
At 1-1/16 inch with a 14-3/4 inch handle, this is a large wrench, and the length is engineered — it is roughly the leverage that produces correct torque for a fastener this size from a comfortable hand pull. Slipping a pipe over it defeats the design.
The 12-point box is access rather than grip. On a seized fastener this size, a 6-point socket is the correct tool.
