The Victor VCT0333-0357 is an MTHP cutting tip, size 4, propylene, brass, 8 inch cutting capacity.

Propylene is the specification and it is a genuinely different fuel gas, not a substitute for acetylene.

The differences run in both directions. Acetylene has the hottest flame and the fastest preheat — nothing lights a cut faster, which is why it dominates hand cutting. Propylene burns cooler at the cone and delivers more total heat in the outer envelope, which makes preheating slower to start and more efficient once going. It is also cheaper, it is stable at cylinder pressure with none of acetylene's decomposition problem, and it stores as a liquid so a cylinder holds far more usable gas.

Which is why production cutting, machine cutting, and heavy plate work frequently run propylene while a repair shop runs acetylene.

The tip is not interchangeable and that is the point. Alternate fuel gases have different flame speeds and need a different mixing arrangement — typically a two-piece tip with a separate insert. An acetylene tip on propylene will not hold a flame properly; a propylene tip on acetylene is a flashback risk.

The 8 inch capacity reflects propylene's suitability for heavy plate.
