TurboTorch TBT0386-0115 Replacement Tip Brass S-6

The TurboTorch TBT0386-0115 is a replacement tip, S-6 type, brass.

Reading this against the S-3 in the same range: same swirl series, larger size. The number is the tip size, and tip size is a heat delivery rating.

Choosing it correctly is the whole skill, and the failure is not what people expect. An undersized tip does not simply work slowly — it frequently does not work at all. The reason is that metal conducts. A large copper fitting draws heat away from the joint faster than a small flame can deliver it, and the joint reaches an equilibrium below brazing temperature and stays there. The operator waits, and waits, and concludes the torch is faulty.

The correct response is a bigger tip, not more time.

Oversizing has its own problems: too much heat in a small joint overheats the flux, burns the filler, and can melt thin-wall tube.

So tips are matched to the size of the work, and a technician carries a range for the same reason a welder carries a range of settings.

Brass is the standard tip material — it conducts heat away from the tip itself and it machines to the tolerances a swirl chamber needs.

Note the gas type is not stated. Tips are gas-specific. Verify before selling.
