The Victor VCT0331-0016 is a 101 cutting tip, size 3, acetylene, copper, 2-1/2 inch cutting capacity.

Note a contradiction: the 101 size 3 acetylene tip in the brass series in this catalogue states a 2 inch capacity, and this one states 2-1/2. Same series, same size, same gas. Material does not change what a tip will cut. Verify against Victor.

At this capacity the cut is heavy and the safety considerations change with it.

Hot steel is the one that catches people. Two and a half inch plate absorbs an enormous amount of heat and it stays dangerous long after it stops glowing — steel at 800°F looks exactly like steel at room temperature, and it will take a hand off. Every offcut, every dropped piece, and every workpiece from a heavy cut is a burn waiting for somebody who did not see it happen.

Sparks are the other. Oxy-fuel cutting throws molten iron oxide a considerable distance, and it lands in cuffs, in boot tops, and in whatever combustible material is under the bench. Hot work permits and fire watches exist because of this, and cutting fires frequently start after the cutting stops.

Copper is the material in this series; brass is the alternative.

Acetylene: never above 15 psi.
