The Victor VCT0331-0015 is a 101 cutting tip, size 2, acetylene, copper, 1-1/2 inch cutting capacity.

Note a contradiction with this catalogue's own data: the 101 size 2 acetylene tip in the brass series is listed with a 1 inch capacity, and this one is listed at 1-1/2. Same series designation, same size, same gas, fifty percent apart. Material does not change cutting capacity. One of these figures is wrong and it needs resolving at source — a customer choosing a tip by capacity has no way to tell which.

The capacity figure is a maximum. A tip at the top of its range produces the worst cut it can: a wide kerf, and dross on the underside that has to be chipped off. That is worth knowing because dross gets treated as inevitable and it usually is not — it is a symptom of the wrong tip, the wrong pressure, or the wrong travel speed.

The other governing factor is what everyone skips: tip condition. Cutting orifices are precisely sized and easily deformed by spatter, by touching the plate, and by being cleaned with a drill bit. A tip with an out-of-round oxygen orifice cuts a bevel, permanently.
