Victor VCT0330-0284 Cutting Tip 101-30 Acetylene

The Victor VCT0330-0284 is a 101-30 cutting tip for acetylene.

Note that this row states almost nothing: no tip size and no cutting capacity. Those are the two specifications a cutting tip is chosen on — the size determines the plate thickness it will sever, and without it the product cannot be bought at all. Every other tip in this range carries both. Obtain them.

The 101-30 series variant also needs explaining on the listing. Victor's suffixes denote genuine differences from the base series, and a customer cannot assume a 101-30 substitutes for a 101.

That matters beyond convenience. Cutting tips seat into a torch head on a precisely machined face, and the seat is what makes the joint gas-tight. A tip from the wrong series may enter the head and not seal — and a leaking oxy-fuel joint at the torch is a fire, immediately, at the operator's hands.

So series compatibility is verified first and size second.

The process itself: oxy-fuel cutting does not melt steel. Preheat flames raise it to ignition temperature and an oxygen jet burns the iron. The reaction is exothermic, which is why it works on carbon steel and not on aluminium or stainless.

Acetylene: never above 15 psi.
