Product Highlights
Description
The Victor VCT0323-0261 is an MFA heating nozzle, for acetylene and hydrogen, heating type, tip size 12, one piece.
At size 12 this is the largest heating nozzle in the range, and it is worth stating plainly what a rosebud this size represents.
It is a great deal of fire. A large rosebud produces a broad, high-volume flame intended to heat a substantial mass of steel — beams, shafts, castings, and heavy plate. That is real capability and it comes with real consequences.
The gas supply is the first. Acetylene is dissolved in acetone in the cylinder and it can only be withdrawn at a limited rate — roughly a tenth of the cylinder's capacity per hour before acetone starts coming out with it. A rosebud this size will exceed a single cylinder comfortably. Heating work at this scale needs a manifold, and using one cylinder anyway ruins the cylinder and contaminates the equipment.
Fire is the second. A rosebud is not a precision instrument. It heats everything near it, and hot work on a large scale is exactly the scenario that fire watch procedures exist for.
And the 15 psi rule is absolute regardless of tip size: acetylene decomposes explosively above it, with no oxygen involved.
Verify the torch series.
