At 90 to 100 amps this is the top of the range for this torch family, and the note worth making is about what higher amperage actually buys.

It buys thickness. Plasma cutting capacity is a current figure: more amps means a hotter, more energetic jet, which means more material blown out of the kerf, which means thicker plate. That is the whole relationship.

What it does not buy is better cuts on thin material. Running a 100A tip on 16 gauge sheet blows the material away rather than cutting it — the kerf goes wide, the edge is ragged, and the heat distorts the panel. Thin material wants low amperage and a matched small-orifice tip, and the machine's chart is not a suggestion.

So more amps is not more capability in general. It is more capability on thick plate and less on thin.

The rating is also a hard limit on the consumable. A tip run above its amperage erodes in minutes because the arc contacts the copper.

Consumables wear as a set. A worn electrode destabilises the arc and destroys a fresh tip.

Standoff means held off the plate, not dragged. Note the torch model is not stated. Verify.
