Stanley STN66-565 6 Piece Screwdriver Set

The Stanley STN66-565 is a 6 piece screwdriver set.

Note two problems. The source carries an estimated ship date inside the description, which is inventory data in a content field. And it states nothing about the set — no tip types, no sizes, no lengths. A six piece screwdriver set could be anything, and a customer cannot buy it without knowing what is in it. Obtain the contents.

What a screwdriver set should tell you and this one does not: the split between slotted and Phillips, the tip sizes, and the shank lengths. Those three determine whether the set covers the work.

The point that is worth making about screwdriver sets generally is that tip fit is everything. A driver that is slightly too small in a slot or a recess concentrates the load on a fraction of the contact area, and it cams out — which rounds the screw and, on a Phillips, is exactly what the drive was designed to do. Phillips was engineered in an era before torque clutches to cam out deliberately, as a crude torque limiter. That is why Phillips screws chew up, and why the correct size and full seating are the only defences.

A set exists so the correct size is present.
