Stanley STN33-158 Power Lock Tape Measure Tape rule Forward 3/4" blade width

The Stanley STN33-158 is a PowerLock tape measure, tape rule, forward style, 3/4 inch blade width, 16 ft.

Note a catalogue problem: this row's specifications are byte-identical to another PowerLock in this range under a different part number — same style, same 3/4 inch blade, same 16 ft. Two part numbers are two products. The difference is not in the data, and it needs finding before either goes on a storefront.

What tape measure SKUs commonly differ by, and what the data here does not capture: blade markings (fractional read, stud centres, metric), belt clip type, case material, packaging (carded, bulk, boxed), and whether the tape is sold individually or as a multipack. Any of those would explain two 16 ft PowerLocks.

The PowerLock's defining feature is the lock — a positive thumb lock that holds the blade rather than a friction brake that lets it creep back while a mark is being made.

The 3/4 inch blade is the narrow end of the range. Blade width drives standout: how far the tape extends unsupported before it buckles. Narrow blades stand out less and fit a pocket-sized case. Wide blades reach further and ride in a case the size of a fist.

For general carpentry at arm's length, 3/4 inch is enough tape and less bulk.
