Stanley STN33-116 Power Lock Tape Measure Tape rule Forward 3/4" blade width

The Stanley STN33-116 is a PowerLock tape measure, tape rule, forward style, 3/4 inch blade width, 16 ft.

Note that this catalogue lists another PowerLock under a different part number with identical stated specifications — forward style, 3/4 inch blade, 16 ft. Two SKUs cannot be the same product. One of them differs in something the data does not capture: packaging, a belt clip, a bulk pack, or a blade marking. Obtain the difference, because a customer comparing them will pick on price and may get the wrong one.

The PowerLock is one of the longest-running tape measures made, and the lock is what it is named for. A positive thumb lock holds the blade where it is, rather than a friction brake that creeps.

The 3/4 inch blade width is the specification that governs how the tape behaves, and the relationship is worth knowing: blade width determines standout — how far the tape will extend unsupported before it buckles and folds. A 3/4 inch blade is narrow, which means modest standout, and it also means a compact case that lives in a pocket.

Wide blades stand out further and ride in a case the size of a fist. That is the whole trade, and 3/4 inch is the pocket end of it.
