The Simonds SIM73244000 is a Magicut flat multi-cut file, American pattern, 12 inches.

At 12 inches this is the working length for a multi-cut, and length matters here for the usual reason: a long file bridges the high spots and cuts them down, where a short file drops into the hollows and follows the surface it was meant to flatten.
