The Robertshaw 1830-620K is a pilot burner and switch kit for standing pilot gas appliances.

Supplying the pilot burner together with its associated switch as a kit addresses a practical service reality: these components are related, they age together, and diagnosing which of them is at fault takes longer than replacing both.

On an appliance where the pilot assembly is corroded, the orifice is beyond cleaning, and the safety device is of the same vintage, fitting a kit restores the whole pilot system to a known condition in a single operation. On older equipment where individual parts may be difficult to source, a kit may also be the only practical route.

The components must match the appliance. Gas type determines the orifice, the bracket must position the pilot correctly relative to both the main burner and the sensing device, and the switch must suit the appliance's control arrangement.

After fitting, the pilot flame is adjusted to envelop the sensing device properly and reach the main burner, the safety function is verified by extinguishing the pilot and confirming the gas shuts off, and every gas joint made is leak tested.
