Robertshaw Low Pressure Control O10-1483

The Robertshaw O10-1483 is a low pressure control for refrigeration systems.

Commercial refrigeration presents low pressure control situations that air conditioning does not, and the differences are worth noting.

Refrigeration systems operate at much lower evaporating temperatures, particularly in freezer applications, so their normal suction pressures are correspondingly low. The margin between normal operation and a setpoint that provides useful protection is therefore narrower.

They also experience routine conditions that temporarily depress suction pressure: pull-down from a warm start after loading or after a defrost, and the pump-down cycle where fitted. A control that cannot distinguish these from a genuine fault will trip in normal service.

And they run continuously through the year rather than seasonally, so the number of operating hours and cycles accumulated is far greater.

The consequence is that low pressure control selection and setting on refrigeration equipment requires knowledge of the application's operating conditions rather than a generic figure, and that time delays or bypass arrangements at start-up are often necessary.

Applications include commercial refrigeration, walk-in coolers and freezers, display cases, and refrigeration racks.
