Nidec/Emerson Motor Direct Drive ECM 1 HP EZ-13

The Nidec/Emerson 5652 is an EZ-13 series direct drive ECM blower motor rated 1 horsepower for indoor blower applications in larger furnaces, air handlers, and light commercial equipment.

One horsepower ECM blower motors serve large residential and light commercial air handling equipment where required airflow is high. At this size the difference between an ECM and the PSC motor it replaces is at its most economically significant, because the absolute power draw is larger and the equipment typically runs long cycles.

Physical fit needs checking carefully at this size. ECM motors are generally longer than PSC motors of comparable output because of the integrated electronics, and blower compartments in existing equipment were sized around the original. Measure the available depth from the mounting bracket to the compartment wall before ordering rather than discovering the problem with the old motor already removed.

Ventilation around the motor also matters. The control module generates heat and relies on airflow past the motor body, so it should not be enclosed or insulated.
