Mars Azure 1/4-1/2 HP ECM M10856

The Mars Azure M10856 is a constant-torque ECM blower motor rated 1/4 to 1/2 horsepower, supplied as a programmable replacement for indoor blower motors in furnaces, air handlers, and fan coil units.

The efficiency case for an ECM indoor blower is stronger than for any other motor in a residential system, because the indoor blower runs more hours than anything else. It operates during every heating call, every cooling call, and continuously in systems set for constant fan, which in many households means most of the year. A reduction in blower power draw therefore compounds across far more run hours than an equivalent saving on the compressor or outdoor fan would.

The saving is largest at reduced airflow. A PSC motor's power draw falls only modestly as system resistance rises, whereas an electronically commutated motor draws power roughly in proportion to the work it is doing, so continuous-fan and low-stage operation is where the difference is most pronounced.

Speed taps are programmed at installation to reproduce the airflow of the motor being replaced.
