Mueller Line Set 3/8X1-1 61820500

The Mueller 61820500 is a pre insulated refrigerant line set with a 3/8 inch liquid line, supplied in coil form for split system air conditioning and heat pump installation.

Handling a line set well during installation determines much of its service life, and the damage that occurs is usually done before the system is ever charged.

Uncoiling is the first opportunity for damage. A coiled line set must be unrolled rather than pulled off the coil in loops, since pulling from a stationary coil introduces a twist into the tubing with every turn removed. Kinks form easily, and a kinked refrigerant line is a permanent restriction that cannot be repaired by straightening.

The second is contamination. The tube ends are sealed when supplied, and those seals should remain in place until the moment of connection. An open line set left overnight collects moisture and debris, and POE based systems are unforgiving of moisture in particular.

The third is the insulation. It is easily torn while pulling the set through a penetration or across a rough surface, and torn insulation must be repaired properly rather than taped over.

Bends should be formed with a bender rather than by hand wherever the radius is tight.

Confirm line sizes, length, and insulation specification against the equipment manufacturer's requirements. Pressure test and evacuate the completed line set before charging.
