DiversiTech 1-1/8 Lineset Clean HLP118

The DiversiTech HLP118 is a line set cleaning device sized for 1-1/8 inch tubing, used to flush and clear refrigerant lines during system changeover or after contamination.

Existing line sets are frequently retained when equipment is replaced, since replacing them means opening walls and ceilings. The line set then carries whatever the old system left in it into the new one.

That residue matters in two situations. After a compressor burnout, the lines hold acid and carbonised debris that will attack a new compressor. And when changing from R-22 with mineral oil to an HFC refrigerant with POE lubricant, residual mineral oil remains in the lines. Mineral oil is not miscible with HFC refrigerants and will not return to the compressor, so it accumulates in the evaporator, coating the tube walls and reducing heat transfer while the compressor gradually loses its oil charge.

Flushing removes both. The line set is cleaned with an appropriate flushing agent, driven through with nitrogen, and thoroughly dried before the new system is connected.

Where contamination is severe, or where the line set cannot be flushed effectively, replacement is the safer course. The cost of a repeat compressor failure exceeds the cost of new tubing.

Confirm the tool suits the line size, use a flushing agent compatible with the system, and verify the lines are completely dry before connecting.
