The Milwaukee MIL48-22-1235 is a tape measure, 35 ft blade, double-sided hook, red and black case, steel blade in yellow, automatic finger stop retraction.

The finger stop retraction is the specification and on a 35 ft tape it is a safety feature rather than a convenience.

Thirty-five feet of steel blade returning under full spring tension is genuinely dangerous. The blade edge is thin steel travelling fast, and the classic injury is a hand cut by a blade snapping back through it — which happens because the operator lets go rather than because anything failed. The longer the tape, the more energy the spring stores, and 35 ft is a lot of spring.

A finger stop gives controlled return: the blade retracts against a brake the operator modulates, rather than accelerating the whole way home. It is slower and it is what a long tape needs.

Thirty-five feet itself is a specialist length — beyond ordinary carpentry, into commercial spans, long walls, and site work where a 25 ft tape means two measurements and an accumulated error.

The double-sided hook grabs from either face, hooking over the top of material as readily as under it.

Note the stated blade width of 2.4 inch is implausible for a tape blade and appears to be a case dimension.
