Milwaukee MIL48-22-1025M Magnetic Tape Measure 25 ft Steel 2.05 Inch ABS

The Milwaukee MIL48-22-1025M is a magnetic tape measure, 25 ft blade, steel blade, automatic spring driven retraction, ABS case in red and black, yellow blade, 6 per carton.

A magnetic hook does one thing and it is worth more than it sounds: it lets one person measure steel.

The situation is familiar to anyone who works in metal. A measurement needs to be taken from the far end of a beam, a duct, a stud, or a frame, and there is nothing to hook the tape over — steel studs have no edge to catch, ductwork is smooth, and a beam flange faces the wrong way. The conventional answer is a second person holding the end, which means finding one.

A magnetic hook sticks. The tape stays where it was put, and the measurement gets taken alone.

The limits are worth stating. It holds on ferrous material only — steel and iron, not aluminium, not stainless of the austenitic kind, not copper. And the magnet holds by adhesion, so a sharp pull or an awkward angle releases it.

The 6 per carton quantity is trade packaging.

Note the stated blade width of 2.05 inch is implausible for a tape blade and appears to be a case dimension.

Applications include steel framing, HVAC ductwork, structural work, and metal fabrication.
