Description
The Milwaukee MIL48-22-0326 is a tape measure with a double-sided hook, 26 ft blade, automatic spring driven retraction, ABS case in red and black, steel blade in yellow.
Twenty-six feet is the specification worth commenting on, because it is a deliberately odd number and it exists for a reason.
The industry standard is 25 ft, and 25 ft is a compromise — long enough for most rooms, short enough to carry. The trouble is that a great many measurements land just beyond it: a wall a fraction over, a run that needs one more foot. And a tape that runs out is a tape that means two measurements and a pencil mark, which is where errors come from.
An extra foot costs nothing in case size and covers those cases. It is a small idea and a genuinely useful one.
The double-sided hook grabs from either face, so the tape works hooked over the top of material as readily as under it.
Worth knowing about any tape hook: it floats by design. The rivets are slotted so it slides by exactly its own thickness, letting the tape read correctly both hooked and butted. That movement is not wear.
Note that the stated blade width of 2.33 inch is implausible for a tape blade and appears to be a case dimension. Verify before publishing.
