Mars Low Pressure Switch 50/90 M43352

The Mars M43352 is a low pressure switch with settings of approximately 50 and 90 PSI.

The higher settings in this range suit air conditioning applications and high temperature refrigeration, where evaporating pressures are correspondingly high.

A useful check when working with any pressure control is to convert its settings into temperatures for the refrigerant in the system, because the temperature figures are far more interpretable than the pressures.

A low pressure cut-out converted to an evaporating temperature immediately reveals whether the setting makes sense. A cut-out corresponding to an evaporating temperature well below freezing on an air conditioning system, for example, means the coil would be icing solidly before the control acted, which suggests the setting is too low for the application.

The same conversion applied to a high pressure control gives a condensing temperature, and to a fan cycling control gives the condensing temperature it is maintaining.

Working in temperatures rather than pressures also makes it immediately apparent when a control has been carried over from a system using a different refrigerant.
