Mars Low Pressure Switch 35/60 OP M43349

The Mars M43349 is a low pressure switch with settings of approximately 35 and 60 PSI.

Settings in this range suit medium temperature refrigeration and some air conditioning applications, where normal suction pressures sit comfortably above the cut-out.

Selecting a low pressure control involves a judgement about margin. The setpoint must sit below the lowest suction pressure the system reaches in normal operation, including during pull-down from a warm start, when suction pressure can be temporarily depressed. A control set too close to normal operating pressure will trip during pull-down, and the equipment will cycle repeatedly without ever reaching temperature.

At the same time, a setpoint too far below normal operation delays the protection until the system has run substantially starved.

Where nuisance trips occur during pull-down on a system that otherwise operates correctly, a time delay that bypasses the low pressure control briefly at start-up is the conventional remedy, rather than lowering the setpoint until the trips stop.

The pressure figures must be interpreted against the refrigerant in use, since the same pressure represents different evaporating temperatures in different refrigerants.
