Mars High Pressure Switch 600/475 M43335

The Mars M43335 is a high pressure switch with an approximate 600 PSI cut-out and 475 PSI cut-in.

Settings at this level indicate equipment operating with high pressure refrigerants, where normal condensing pressures are far above those encountered in older systems.

Working on such systems requires a corresponding adjustment in practice. Gauges, hoses, and recovery equipment must be rated for the pressures involved, and equipment suited to lower pressure refrigerants is not adequate. Service valves, fittings, and any component in the high side must likewise be rated appropriately.

The safety implications are real. A hose or gauge failing at 600 PSI releases a substantial quantity of refrigerant rapidly, with the associated risks of frostbite, oxygen displacement in a confined space, and injury from the failure itself.

The higher operating pressures also mean that leaks release refrigerant faster, and that the consequences of a component failing are greater.

Verifying that service equipment is rated for the system before connecting to it is a basic precaution that becomes more important as operating pressures rise.
