Mars High Pressure Switch 375/MAN M43312

The Mars M43312 is a high pressure switch with an approximate 375 PSI cut-out and manual reset.

Manual reset is the significant specification here. Rather than reclosing automatically once pressure falls, this control latches open and requires physical intervention before the equipment can restart.

The reasoning is that a high pressure trip generally indicates a condition that will not correct itself. A blocked condenser, a failed condenser fan, an overcharge, or non-condensables in the system will all still be present when pressure falls after shutdown, and an automatic reset control would simply restart the compressor into the same fault. Repeated restarts into a high pressure condition subject the compressor to sustained abuse.

Manual reset guarantees a person attends. That person may simply press the button, but the equipment has at least stopped in a way that requires acknowledgement rather than failing silently.

Where manual reset controls are found tripping repeatedly and being reset without investigation, the underlying fault is being ignored, and the compressor is paying for it.

The reset should never be defeated or jumpered to keep equipment running.

Applications include commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems where a high pressure trip warrants investigation.
