Product Highlights
Description
The Mars M43301 is a fan cycling pressure switch with settings of approximately 75 and 100 PSI, closing on rise.
The paired figures on a fan cycling switch describe its two operating points: the pressure at which it closes to start the fan, and the pressure at which it opens to stop it.
On a fan cycling application the logic is that rising head pressure calls for more condenser capacity, so the fan starts as pressure climbs. Falling head pressure indicates the condenser is rejecting heat too effectively for the conditions, so the fan stops and pressure recovers.
The lower settings of this switch, in the 75 to 100 PSI region, correspond to refrigerants operating at low condensing pressures. This is important because the pressure figures alone are meaningless without knowing the refrigerant: 100 PSI represents a comfortable condensing temperature in one refrigerant and an impossibly low one in another.
Selecting a fan cycling switch therefore begins with the refrigerant, converting the desired condensing temperature to pressure using the appropriate pressure-temperature relationship, and then choosing a switch whose settings match.
Applications include commercial refrigeration and air conditioning with air cooled condensers.
