The Lenox LEN10771 is a locking Tradesman utility knife.

The locking mechanism is the specification and it addresses the failure mode utility knives are notorious for. A retractable knife whose blade slides under pressure is genuinely dangerous — the blade retracts mid-cut, the user pushes harder to compensate, the blade re-extends, and the cut goes somewhere unplanned. Utility knives cause more hand lacerations than almost any other tool on a site, and slipping blades are a large part of why.

A positive lock holds the blade at the set extension. It stays where it was put.
