Verification is straightforward but rarely performed. The low pressure element can be tested by slowly closing the suction service valve and confirming the compressor stops at the expected pressure. The high pressure element can be tested by restricting condenser airflow, with gauges connected, and confirming the trip occurs at the expected point. Both tests require care and should be performed deliberately rather than by allowing the system to reach the condition naturally.

Testing has value because a pressure control that has never operated may be seized, its bellows may have lost charge, or its capillary may have fractured, and none of these is apparent from inspection. A control that cannot operate provides no protection while appearing entirely normal.
