Jackson Safety JKS14756 Ruler Wrap-A-Round 2X-Large 9 ft 5 Inch Black

The Jackson Safety JKS14756 is a Wrap-A-Round ruler, 2X-Large, 9 ft long, 5 inch wide, black, for pipe diameters 6 inch to 16 inch.

At 9 ft and covering up to 16 inch pipe this is the largest wrap in the range, and large-bore work is where the tool earns its keep most decisively. A 16 inch pipe has a circumference over four feet. A fitter marking around it freehand cannot see where the line started by the time they reach the end of it, and the error accumulates the whole way. The result is a spiral, and a pipe cut to a spiral is cut out of square.

That matters more at this size than any other, because large-diameter pipe is expensive and heavy. A bad cut is not something one person repositions and does again.

The 5 inch width gives the body to lie flat on a large radius without rippling, and a long straightedge to mark against.

The 9 ft length is set by the arithmetic: circumference is roughly three times diameter, plus overlap to align the wrap's edges.
