The Jackson Safety JKS14752 is a Wrap-A-Round ruler, medium size, 4 ft long, 3.88 inch wide, black, for pipe diameters 3 inch to 6 inch.

A wrap-around is the answer to a geometric problem that has no other solution: you cannot mark a square line around a round pipe by eye. A pipe has no edge to reference and no flat to rest a square against. A line marked freehand around a circumference spirals — it returns above or below where it started — and a pipe cut to that line is cut out of square. An out-of-square end does not seat against its fitting, which becomes a gap, which becomes a bad weld.

Wrapped around the pipe with its edges aligned, the wrap's edge describes a true plane perpendicular to the pipe's axis. Mark to it and cut.

The pipe diameter range is the fitment specification and it is not optional. A wrap sized for 3 to 6 inch pipe will not reach around a 10 inch pipe, and on a 1 inch pipe it is unmanageable. Match the wrap to the pipe you actually work.

The 3.88 inch width gives a straightedge with enough body to be marked against.
