The Irwin IRW20 is a Vise-Grip 11SP locking clamp with swivel pads, in alloy steel, a locking C-clamp with a 3-3/8 inch / 85 mm jaw capacity, model 11SP.

The swivel pads are the specification that separates this from the regular-tip version, and they solve a real problem. A locking clamp with fixed tips grips at a point — fine on flat, parallel surfaces, but on anything angled, tapered, or irregular the tips contact on an edge, the pressure concentrates, and the clamp either marks the work or slips off it entirely.

Swivel pads pivot to sit flat against whatever they meet. They spread the clamping pressure across a face instead of a point, which means they hold on non-parallel surfaces and they do not dig in.

That makes this the version for finished work, sheet material, and angled assemblies. The regular-tip version is the one for maximum bite on rough steel where marking does not matter.

The over-centre locking mechanism gives single-handed application at a preset pressure — which is the whole reason welders use locking clamps rather than screw clamps.

Note: the source lists size as 1 inch / 275 mm, which is internally inconsistent — 275 mm is 11 inches, matching the 11SP model designation.
