The HD Grant F44701-PPFRF2424 is a 24 by 24 inch perforated return air grille for suspended T-bar ceiling installation.

A perforated face grille presents a flat panel with a regular pattern of small openings, giving a considerably more discreet appearance than an egg crate or bar face. Where the ceiling forms part of the architectural intent, a perforated face reads almost as part of the tile field, which is why it is specified in offices with designed interiors, healthcare and laboratory spaces, hospitality, and retail environments.

The trade-off is free area. A perforated panel has less open area than an egg crate face of the same dimensions, which means higher face velocity for a given airflow, and consequently more pressure drop and more generated noise. That is not a reason to avoid perforated grilles, but it is a reason to size them from the manufacturer's data rather than assuming they behave like an egg crate.
