The DiversiTech 650-300 is a 2 by 2 foot egg crate return air grille for suspended T-bar ceiling installation.

Egg crate grilles are specified for return air because of their high free area. The open lattice face presents far less obstruction than a bar face or a louvred grille of the same dimensions, which directly reduces the pressure drop across the grille and the noise it generates.

That matters because return air paths are chronically undersized. In a system where the return is restrictive, the blower operates against elevated static pressure, delivered airflow falls below design, the evaporator coil runs colder than intended, and air rush noise appears at the return grille. Diagnosing a system with poor airflow frequently leads back to the return path rather than the supply.

The face velocity through a return grille is what determines both the pressure drop and the noise. Selecting a grille sized for the design airflow at an acceptable face velocity, rather than sizing it to the convenient opening, is the correct approach, and often means a larger grille than the installer initially expects.

The 2 by 2 foot module drops into a standard suspended ceiling grid, which makes installation and later removal for filter access straightforward.
