The Hart & Cooley 43332 is a 672 series return air grille measuring 14 by 20 inches nominal, finished in white steel.

Undersized return air is one of the most persistent faults in residential systems and one of the least often diagnosed. A system installed with generous supply ductwork and a single small return will run against high static pressure, deliver reduced airflow across the coil, produce poor temperature split, and be noisy at the return. Because none of those symptoms points obviously at the return, the usual response is to look at the equipment.

Measuring total external static pressure across the air handler is the check that identifies it. A reading substantially above the equipment's rated maximum, with the return side contributing a disproportionate share, indicates the return path rather than the equipment.

A 14 by 20 inch grille is a moderate size, suitable as a secondary return or as the primary return on a small system. On a larger system it is likely to be one of several return positions rather than the only one.

The 672 series carries no filter frame, so the system filter must be located at the air handler.
