ESP Service Tool Quickblast Blow QB1

The ESP QB1 Quickblast is a blow gun used for clearing debris and applying compressed air during service work.

Blow guns are used constantly for clearing swarf, blowing out drilled holes before setting anchors, drying components, and dislodging debris from coils and cabinets.

Two safety points apply and both are frequently disregarded.

Compressed air directed at skin can force air into tissue, and directed at the eyes it drives particles at high velocity. Blow guns intended for general use incorporate a pressure relieving tip that limits the pressure delivered if the nozzle is blocked against a surface, and this is a regulatory requirement in many workplaces rather than an optional feature.

Air must never be directed at a person, including in jest, and the practice of using a blow gun to clean clothing or skin is genuinely hazardous.

The second point is that a blow gun ejects whatever is in front of it at speed. Eye protection is required for the operator and for anyone in the vicinity, and the direction of discharge should be considered before the trigger is pressed.

For clearing drilled holes before setting anchors, the debris comes straight back out toward the operator's face, which is exactly the situation where protection matters.

Confirm the gun's fittings match the air supply, verify the safety tip is intact, and wear eye protection.
