The DiversiTech CB-2 475 is a nitrogen and carbon dioxide kit supplied for condensate drain line clearing and service applications.

Blocked condensate drains are among the most frequent service calls in cooling season, and clearing them with pressurised gas is the quickest method where access permits.

The principle is straightforward. Gas is introduced at the equipment end or at a cleanout, and the pressure drives the obstruction out through the termination. It works well on a line blocked by accumulated biofilm and debris, which is the usual cause.

The cautions matter. Pressure must be applied in controlled bursts rather than continuously, since excessive pressure can blow apart glued joints, dislodge the line from the equipment, or force water and debris back into the drain pan and out into the building.

The discharge end should be considered before applying pressure, since whatever is in the line will exit forcefully at the termination, and someone standing there will be sprayed with contaminated water.

Eye protection is appropriate.

Clearing the blockage does not address why it formed. The biofilm that produced it will reform, and treatment, correct slope, and an adequate trap are what prevent recurrence.

Confirm the kit's fittings suit the drain line sizes encountered, verify the gas type and pressure are appropriate, and check the drain flows freely afterward by pouring water into the pan.
