The DiversiTech 623-007 is a 100-pack of winged red twist-on wire connectors for branch circuit and equipment splices.

Winged construction provides leverage that makes achieving full connector torque substantially easier. Standard smooth-shell connectors require gripping and turning against considerable resistance, which is difficult with gloved or cold hands, when working overhead in an attic or above a ceiling, or when joining several heavy conductors in a crowded junction box. The wings let an installer apply proper torque without hand strain, and some designs accept a nut driver for additional leverage.

The benefit is more than comfort. Twist-on connector reliability depends on the internal spring drawing conductors into firm mutual contact, and an under-torqued connector produces a joint that may pass an initial pull test yet loosen as the circuit heats and cools in service. A loose splice develops resistance, generates heat at the joint, accelerates oxidation, and can eventually become a fire hazard. Because this progression is gradual and concealed inside a box, correct make-up at installation is the only practical defence.

Red connectors typically cover the larger conductor gauges and higher conductor counts, suiting multi-conductor splices in branch circuits and equipment connections.
