DiversiTech Wet Switch Flood Detector WS-1

The DiversiTech WS-1 is a wet switch flood detector, sensing the presence of water at a surface and interrupting equipment operation.

A wet switch works differently from a float switch. Rather than responding to water reaching a level in a pan or a line, it detects water at the point where the sensor sits, which allows it to be placed where water would appear if something failed, regardless of whether that location is a pan at all.

This makes it useful in situations a float switch does not cover well. A secondary drain pan that is shallow, a flat surface beneath equipment where water would spread rather than pool deeply, the floor of a mechanical closet, or a location where a leak could originate from a fitting rather than from the drain, are all better served by surface detection.

The sensor's position determines what it protects. Placed at the lowest point where water would collect, it responds early; placed anywhere else, water may spread and cause damage without reaching it.

As with any condensate protection, the switch is wired into the control circuit so a trip stops the equipment, and its operation should be verified at commissioning by wetting the sensor.

Applications include residential and light commercial air handlers, fan coils, water heaters, and mechanical rooms.
