DiversiTech Condensate Switch Elbow CS-2

The DiversiTech CS-2 is a condensate safety switch in an elbow configuration, fitted in the condensate drain line to shut down equipment on drain blockage.

The elbow configuration exists because drain lines rarely run straight from the equipment to their termination. Where the drain turns, an elbow mounted switch occupies a fitting that the installation requires anyway, rather than adding a separate tee and the two additional joints that come with it. Fewer joints means fewer opportunities for leaks in a line that is under no pressure and depends entirely on well made connections.

Functionally it performs the same duty as any inline condensate switch: it senses water rising in the drain line, which indicates a blockage downstream, and opens the equipment's control circuit before the drain pan overflows.

The protection matters most where the equipment is above a finished space. An attic air handler with a blocked drain and no safety switch will discharge condensate into the ceiling below for as long as the system runs, and the damage is well established by the time it becomes visible.

Position the switch so it senses a backup before the pan reaches its overflow level, and confirm operation by filling the line during commissioning rather than assuming it works.

Applications include residential and light commercial air handlers, fan coils, and evaporator coils.
