DiversiTech Condenser Switch Clip Clip-On CS-3

The DiversiTech CS-3 is a clip-on condensate safety switch, mounted to the edge of a drain pan to shut down equipment when water rises in the pan.

The clip-on configuration is the retrofit answer. Fitting an inline switch requires cutting the drain line and making new joints, which means draining the line, working in whatever space the equipment occupies, and creating connections that must not leak. A clip-on switch attaches to the pan rim without disturbing the drain at all, which makes it practical to add protection to an existing installation in a few minutes.

It senses water level in the pan rather than in the line, which is a slightly different trigger point: the switch responds once water has already begun to accumulate in the pan, whereas an inline switch responds to a backup in the drain. Both stop the equipment before an overflow, provided the switch is positioned so it trips well below the pan's rim.

This makes clip-on switches particularly suited to secondary drain pans, where any water present at all indicates a fault in the primary drainage.

Confirm operation at installation by raising the float or adding water, rather than assuming the switch functions.

Applications include residential and light commercial air handlers, fan coils, evaporator coils, and secondary drain pans.
