DiversiTech Condensate Switch Tee CS-1

The DiversiTech CS-1 is a condensate safety switch in a tee configuration, installed in the condensate drain line to shut down equipment when the drain backs up.

The problem this addresses is common and expensive. An evaporator coil produces condensate continuously through the cooling season, and the drain line carrying it away is prone to blockage from biological growth, dust, and debris. When it blocks, water backs up into the drain pan, overflows, and reaches whatever is below. Where the air handler sits in an attic or above a finished ceiling, the resulting damage frequently exceeds the cost of the equipment itself, and it accumulates for days before anyone notices.

A safety switch interrupts the control circuit when water rises in the drain line, stopping the equipment before the pan overflows. The system stops cooling, which the occupant notices immediately, and a service call follows before any water damage occurs.

The tee configuration installs inline in the drain, sensing water level within the pipe itself rather than in the pan.

Many jurisdictions now require a shutoff device on equipment installed where leakage would cause damage. Beyond code, it is among the least expensive protections available relative to the loss it prevents.

Applications include residential and light commercial air handlers, fan coils, and evaporator coils.
