CLC Tool Bag Soft Side 1578

The CLC 1578 is a soft side tool bag for carrying hand tools and equipment.

Soft sided bags conform to their contents and to whatever they are set against, which has advantages and disadvantages worth weighing.

The advantages are weight, flexibility, and the ability to fit into spaces a rigid case would not. A soft bag compresses into a vehicle compartment, fits through a loft hatch, and can be manoeuvred through restricted access where a hard case would need to be passed through separately.

They are also generally cheaper and lighter for a given capacity.

The disadvantages concern protection. A soft bag offers little impact protection, so instruments inside are vulnerable to knocks and to being crushed if something is set on the bag. A hard case protects contents properly.

Soft bags also lose their shape when not full, which makes organisation harder, and they do not stack.

The practical resolution for most technicians is a soft bag for hand tools, which tolerate rough handling, and a hard case or padded compartment for instruments, which do not.

Meters, gauge sets, and electronic equipment are the expensive and fragile items, and they justify separate protection regardless of what carries the rest.

Confirm the capacity, pocket arrangement, and construction suit the tools carried, and provide separate protection for instruments.
