APEX LFKC213CN Anchor Chrome Clad Tape Measure 50 ft Steel B3 0.375 Inch

The LFKC213CN is an Anchor chrome clad tape measure, 50 ft blade length, chrome clad blade finish, steel blade, B3 blade style, 0.375 inch blade width, SAE, 1.3 inch overall height, 4.7 inch overall length.

Chrome clad is the blade specification and it is a durability treatment worth understanding. The blade is coated with a hard chrome layer bonded to the steel, which resists the abrasion that destroys printed blades. On a long tape dragged across concrete, gravel, and steel all day, the printing on an ordinary blade wears away — and an unreadable tape is scrap.

At 0.375 inch this is a narrow blade, and narrow is deliberate on a long tape. A wide blade has standout — it projects unsupported, which is what makes a 25 ft pocket tape useful alone. A 50 ft tape has no standout at all; it is pulled out along the ground or handed to a second person. Narrowing the blade makes 50 ft fit in a reasonable case and reduces the weight being wound back.

The Anchor family name refers to the case style and the winding mechanism.

Long tapes are for distances a pocket tape cannot span: site layout, foundations, property lines, and long runs.

Note that tension affects a steel tape's reading over 50 ft. Consistent pull matters for consistent measurements.

Applications include construction layout, surveying, and estimating.
